Overview
Is a novel jampacked with love and adventure, with the accent of love. For Joe is a red-blooded American boy with a yen to see the world and be with as many women as possible. It is the Roaring twenties when Joe leave his family home, where his father is a bootlegger, to make good and restore honor to the family name. In Chicago he is rolled, and thus he is penniless and hopeless when he meets up with the Larsons, a farm family in Midwest who soon accept Joe as one of them, particularly the women. In short order the boy has had amorous interludes with the mother and the two daughters. As Joe feels the situation a little too complicated for his tastes, he welcomes a chance to set out for Alaska. More adventures and women will come Joe's way in the great wilderness. He even spends a year and a half in total solitude, panning for gold. But does Joe make good? While he is the wilderness, the Depression hits, making things hard for his family back home. Will Joe be able top help them survive? Or will they all fall by the wayside, as so many lost souls did during these years? And will Joe find Miss Right? Read and See
