"Glenna Luschei (the pen name for Glenna Berry-Horton) was a rancher from California who, when not advocating for agricultural women workers, was a poet and publisher who edited the poetry magazines *Café Solo* and *Solo* for nearly 40 years. Luschei was a student of Shapiro's at the University of Nebraska, where she later she endowed in perpetuity the literary quarterly *Prairie Schooner* as well as establish an annual prize for African poets."
