"We're just about the most rotten riders you'd find anywhere." Ann Harker and her friend Angy are deep in despair over their attempts to ride properly. Bothe girls realize that unless they and their horses receive proper instruction, both will go on making the same mistakes over and over again.

In desperation they contact other young people in the district in an effort to form a group for instruction on horse-riding. Some of them are willing to improve their riding, others are not too keen to admit that there is room for improvement, and their first frantic attempt to teach themselves "by the book" ends in a general melee of horses and riders. A second attempt, with an instructor, fares no better.

How they eventually succeed in obtaining help in schooling their horses and themselves makes entertaining reading.

This is a warm, humorous story about horses and riders. All young people who have a love of animals will enjoy this absorbing tale whether they ride or not.
