The National Kitchen & Bath Association recognizes that the creation of functional, beautiful kitchens require more than an understanding of space planning, cabinet layout and color. Successful kitchen design requires an ability to plan the complete kitchen. A knowledge of residential construction and an understanding of the house as a series of systems is essential for kitchen design professionals to excel. The total kitchen - from the foundation and roof construction, to wiring, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning - must be considered and integrated. This first volume of the Kitchen Industry Technical Manuals addresses the issue of the house as a series of systems. Each of the different elements, including structural systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, mechanical systems and thermal systems, are included.
